Platter’s 2018 over Genevieve Méthode Cap Classique

Genevieve Méthode Cap Classique Blanc de Blancs Brut 2012 (87 pts)
2012 chardonnay sparkler rewards with more fruit, richness & finer, persistent mousse than sibling. Stonefruit & brioche flavours, with freshness, finesse & length.
Genevieve Méthode Cap Classique Blanc de Blancs Zero Dosage 2012 (84 pts)
Leaner, food-styled 2012 chardonnay bubbly, zero dosage, 4 years on lees (like Brut), bone-dry & mineral with subtle toasty brioche & apple flavours.
Genevieve Méthode Cap Classique
Melissa Nelsen, crafter of these traditionally made sparkling wines, has a suitably French middle name, which her label bears. She’s long been based in Bot River and has, she says, bought a farm there: ‘Very exciting and we will start creating a tasting room as we go along’. Her 2013s were unfortunately not disgorged in time for us to taste.
